Grab A Ball & Play Inflate & Donate
The night before Giving Tuesday, Grab A Ball & Play held its 2nd Annual “Inflate & Donate” event at Russell Westbrook Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram of Van Nuys Showroom for an evening of Giving Back for Giving Tuesday. Volunteers came together to inflate 5000 new athletic balls which were donated to under-served youth across Los Angeles.
With the DJ spinning, food and beverages flowing and the air pumps pumping, guests had fun bidding on amazing raffle items, participating in unique games and enjoying the party of the season with a few special invited guests, including founder Jazmin Erving’s father, Julius “Dr. J” Erving and singer Jeffrey Osborne.
Trucks from some of their beneficiary organizations such as Boys & Girls Club, The Salvation Army and The Los Angeles Police Foundation were loaded that evening with brand new INFLATED athletic balls, with more delivered the next day. They were distributed to local youth centers so they can gift kids with their own athletic equipment.
“Not every child’s family can afford to have their own basketball, football, etc. and we all know how we felt the first time we held something of our very own. It’s an empowering feeling,” said Ms. Eriving. “Also, exercise increases brain activity
which is why it’s important for kids to play instead of sitting still for long periods of time. We want to encourage healthy living and inspire kids to practice daily until they reach their goals. These are amazing skills with which to walk into adulthood.
It’s more than just a ball... an athletic ball provides an opportunity for greatness in all professions,” said Jazmin Erving, the Founder of Grab A Ball & Play Foundation and daughter of Julius “Dr. J” Erving. “It is our goal to change the world... one ball at a time.”
Grab A Ball & Play (GABAP) Foundation raises funds to purchase, then donate, brand new athletic balls to underserved youth participating in community sports and youth enrichment programs. With a variety of programs, events and fundraising initiatives throughout the year, GABAP Foundation works with strategic sponsors to assist in operations and outreach. Sponsorship opportunities are customized to include packages for in-kind product donations to annual partners. GABAP Foundation aspires to affect individual communities and community members by providing a simple tool to promote exercise, recreation, teamwork, equality, leadership, inclusion and community involvement.
