Sherwood Cares Evening in Italy
The Sherwood Country Club Charitable Foundation (referred to as Sherwood Cares) celebrated another successful year of fundraising and giving back to the community. Its “Evening in Italy” Cocktail Party and Dinner and Golf Classic netted over $600,000 that will benefit local charities.
The first event, held at Sherwood Country Club, was the annual Cocktail Party and Dinner. The theme was, “An Evening in Italy,” and featured fabulous Italian wines and a Tuscan-inspired menu. The honorees for the event were Sherwood members and philanthropists Kessie and Dan Cimino. The evening began on the elegant clubhouse patio with a specialty cocktail reception and silent auction. Then, comedian Alex Thomas took to the stage in the main ballroom as the MC for the evening. He, along with 2018 honoree, Paul Speaker, roused the 280+ attendees during the live auction to help break fundraising records. The crowd stayed well into the night at the fabulous after-party, featuring delicious dessert bites and live music.
The Sherwood Country Club Charitable Foundation was established as a non-profit 501(c)3 charitable organization in 2012. The Foundation is known as a significant force in supporting children and families in need of medical, nutritional, educational and safety assistance throughout our community. Grant applications are accepted in two award cycles each year: January-February and July- August. Awards are granted in May and November for
the first and second cycles, respectively. Thus far, the Foundation has provided over $1.8 million in grants to 44 local charitable organizations. Sherwood Country Club members contribute to the Foundation in various ways; they serve on the board and committees, attend Sherwood Cares-sponsored events and participate in local community service days.
